Reframe your world…

“A rock pile ceases to be a rock pile the moment a single man contemplates it, bearing within him the image of a cathedral.”  Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Good morning! Sometimes in our lives, nothing needs to change except how we see the world around us. Problems can be conquered and moods can be altered when we “reframe” our world, take a new look, see with a fresh perspective.

Saint Exupery’s quote shows the value in a fresh perspective and open mind. When we look past the obvious we have the ability to turn the mundane into the magical. Without fresh perspectives sure we would likely have a lot more rock piles, and a lot less cathedrals.

Often we won’t “take a new picture” because we are sure our vision is correct. But look at this example. You have two men… one sees a rock pile and the other sees a cathedral. Whose vision is correct?  What camera would you rather hold?

Your Turn: As you go about your daily living, remember that there are two sides to everything. Take a new picture. See the other side. You might fall in love with what you find there.

Today’s Affirmation: I let my preconceived notions go and see the world from a fresh perspective.

  1. I really love this Brook and I needed this today, how did you know? I’ve been going through family photos, to collect pictures and make a special book for my youngest sister who has very few childhood memories. Her childhood was full of unpleasantness as my parents were stressed making ends meet, and this all culminating in divorce. I couldn’t help but feel a little depressed as these pictures brought back so many memories of that time. Fortunately, I was older and on my way out of the house, but even then I felt like I was abandoning my younger siblings and “leaving them to the wolves..” though my parents were good people going through hard times. It was getting me down and now after reading this affirmation today I feel so much hope. I will dig deep for the good to recall and record for my family. I will take a new picture while sifting through the old photos and focus on the good times, the blessings and the lessons I learned, for there were many. And give my sister her childhood in a positive light!
