What are you doing today?

“And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country.” John F. Kennedy

Good Morning! In JFK’s famous speech he shared: “Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty.”

What is on your agenda for today? A picnic, family gathering, or day at the lake? While millions of us celebrate a national holiday and look forward to a day off from work, many of America’s one and a half million troops on active duty will not. It only takes a moment to share words of support and thanks to our troops. Visit the Department of Defense website, http://www.americasupportsyou.mil and follow the link on the home page to email your support.

Your Turn: During your celebrations take time to remember the important history of this day and to thank those who are defending our freedom.

Today’s Affirmation: I celebrate and appreciate independence.

  1. Thanks Brook for taking this opportunity to remember our troops. My father was a WWII Vet, my brother a Vietnam Vet and my son is now an Iraqi Vet. I am so proud of them and all the soldiers past and present as they are the reason we are free to choose what we say, do, think, believe and how we live in the USA!

  2. I treasure my country, I often find myself in awe of the fact that I was lucky enough to have been born in the United States of America. I still can get teary eyed just listening to the Star Spangled Banner!!
